Pear Vodka Martini

October was just one of those sort of months for my family...where every small thing that could happen, did happen. Nothing super dramatic, but enough to seriously cut into my cooking and blogging time. The kids were both sick (for what seems like the 12th time this fall), my husband was working extra long hours & we hardly saw him, and then the multiple minor annoyances of life came blasting through. All of these events combined together to give me a semi-permanent eye twitch, and a strong urge to drink!

To the rescue comes this lovely Pear Vodka Martini. Perfect for soothing those frayed nerves! Delicious pear nectar is mixed with a pear-infused vodka, some simple syrup, and a squirt of fresh, tart, lemon juice. Simple, sweet, and fruity, this is a martini to sip. Perfect for cool nights or as a juicy cocktail for Thanksgiving dinner. I know I enjoy having one... or three!

Pear Vodka Martini
(for one 6 oz drink substitute 'tablespoons' for 'parts')

4 parts pear vodka
3 parts pear nectar
2 parts simple (sugar) syrup
1 part fresh lemon juice
ice

Fill a cocktail shaker half way full with ice and place your martini glass in the freezer for a quick chill.

Combine all of the ingredients into the shaker and shake vigorously to combine, about 30 seconds.

Pour into your already chilled glass.

Enjoy!

  1. I had that kind of October too - I can think of a few evenings in particular during which I could have used a martini. Your photos are beautiful - the light is so soft and pretty, and I particular like the stop-action pouring shot.

    1. Thank goodness for new beginnings and brand new months! October had some fun points, but, I'm glad we are through it! The drink was so so tasty and almost had a 'glow', when photographed. Thank you for commenting and here's to a better November!

  2. Sounds delish! I would love to make a pitcher for Thanksgiving, but where can I find Pear Nectar?

    1. Thank you for commenting! You can often find pear nectar in the international foods section, brands like Goya make a delicious version. You can also find organic pear nectar in health food stores such as Whole Foods. I hope you enjoy this martini as much as I did!

    2. Depending on where you live, Libbys and Goya make Pear Nectar. I would also see if Ceres produces it. Just looked and R.W. Knudson, Jumex, Looza, Hero are more brands.

  3. Where can I find pear infused vodka or is this something I can make myself?

    1. Hi! You can typically find pear vodka at your local liquor store, in the general vodka section. I prefer 'Grey Goose' La Poire (Pear) Vodka for this cocktail. 'Absolut' also makes a pear vodka, if Grey Goose isn't available. Good luck!

    1. You can certainly use an unflavored premium vodka, but it will lack the depth of pear flavor that a pear flavored vodka would give the drink. Thanks for commenting!

  5. I LOVE this martini recipe. I have made these several times since Thanksgiving. I used equal parts honey and water to make the syrup. I muddled some super ripe pear in the shaker before adding the other ingredients, and threw some pomegranate seeds in the martini glass as a garnish. The smell of the pear and honey drives me crazy! Thanks for sharing this recipe.
